The Sanskrit word yoga has many meanings, but the most well-known are the “uniting” or “union” which are refering to the union occurring between the body, mind and spirit. Pranayama : Breathing techniques are based on the concept that breath is the source of life in the body. The breathing exercises help clear and cleanse the body and mind. These are also used in preparation for meditation, and focus the mind. The advanced pranayama techniques should be practiced under the guidance of a teacher.
Shatkarma : The six cleansig techniques are a very important part of the Hatha Yoga. These techniques are the Neti, Kapalbhati, Dhauti, Nauli, Basti and Trataka. These cleansing techniques have been used for thousands of years as both preventative and curative medicines, but above the healing benefits they also help preparation for higher states of meditation.
Relaxation and meditation : The meditation helps reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration, and calms the fluctuations of the mind. The meditations are traditionally the culmination of every Yoga session which allow the body to gain all the benefits of the previous asanas, pranayama, and cleansing practices.
